Where We Are Free
"Where We Are Free" is a song I wrote to honor my great-grandfather, Gregor Belokonny, and express my gratitude for America, as well as my prayer that the American people will continue to experience the amazing freedoms we have in this country.

"Where We Are Free" Lyrics:
On a still and snowy night,
a man called out Your name
He said, “If there be freedom to worship You, please take me to that place”
Then after loss and death and war
When from his people he was torn
You brought him to this blessed shore
Far too long I took for granted my fam’ly’s legacy
The soil where You kindly planted a fruitful, fragrant tree
Truth and time broadened my view
And bade me say, “What will I do?”
Like those before, I lift my eyes to You
This is a prayer for our nation
Oh God, help us to listen
To bells that ring, to men who sing of providential stories
The freedom fought by our fathers
Is a gift unlike any other
Give us sight to see the light and use it for Your glory
I thank You for liberty in this good land where we are free
Deep inside the city walls cruel and careless words parade
Scoffers spit upon a priceless jewel, the naive look away
We will certainly regret
The error if we foolishly forget
The promise made and what that promise meant
This is a prayer for our nation
Oh God, help us to listen
To bells that ring, to men who sing of providential stories
The freedom fought by our fathers Is a gift unlike any other
Give us sight to see the light and use it for
Your glory I thank You for liberty in this good land where we are free
Cause us to remember
Once the flame is out, it’s gone forever
Guard the candle glow
Protect the sacred space we call our home
This is a prayer for our nation
Oh God, help us to listen
To bells that ring, to men who sing of providential stories
The freedom fought by our fathers
Is a gift unlike any other
Give us sight to see the light and use it for Your glory
I thank You for liberty in this good land where we are free
I thank You for liberty
In America, may it always be
The good land where we are free
